It was a strange game. The Caps were up early, they were close on shots, kept the penalties down and yet, they were outworked on all the little things.

I mean, a double minor and a Riberio's two penalties in the 3rd did not help. Then again, being outshot 19 - 5 in the 3rd and 45 - 24 the whole game does not either. Islanders 5 - Capitals 2. What stings the most is this would have been a great game to make up room on the 8th seed. And of course, some thoughts on the game:
