Game 18: Washington Capitals @ Philadelphia Flyers

Well, we got to see the debut of Phillip Grubauer, so I guess that was good.  (Well ok, and it was the return of Simone Gagne in Philly as well.)

We did get to see this when Harry Zolnierczk hit Mathieu Perreault



Well ok, maybe it was not that bad.

Capitals fall to the Flyers 4 - 1.

Well, at least Joe and Craig did not do this.

Yes, that is from tonight's Wizards game.

Game 17: Carolina Hurricanes @ Washington Capitals

On the night we celebrate the return of the man who gave us this:

We watch the Capitals win 3 - 0.

Game 16: New Jersey Devils @ Washington Capitals

OH YEAH!

3 for 3 on the PK, 2 for 3 on the powerplay, Ovi gets a hat trick, they controlled the faceoffs.

Life is good.

Capitals win 5 - 1.

Oh, and here are some Devils reactions to the Caps wins.

Game 15 New Jersey Devils @ Washington Capitals

Question:  What is not a good idea when you are up 2 - 1 going into the 3rd?

Answer:  Go on two 5 on 3 PK's that are over a minute each.

I know, silly idea, but hey, maybe I am just old school like that.

Here is how I felt after the game.

Game 14: Washington Capitals @ New York Rangers

The score really does not reflect how the game went.

The Capitals were outshot 20 - 8 in the first and Holtby stopped 38 out of 40 shots. 

I am not sure which was more undramatic, the Caps as a team or this video:



Caps lose 2 - 1 to the New York Rangers.

Game 13: Washington Capitals @ Tampa Bay Lightning

Even though Tampa was like my ex wife, they both kept coming back, the Caps won.  Thank you Eric Fehr for 2 goals and  Mathieu Perreault for 3 assists.

Capitals beat the Lightning 4 - 3.  

Game 13: Washington Capitals @ Florida Panthers

The game, like some of my friends's all night binge drinking fest, was not the prettiest, but hey, a win is a win.

Caps beat the Cats 6 - 5 in over time.

The Good News:  The Capitals got two points.

The Bad news:  The Panthers got 1 point and remain in 4th in the division.  (But hey, they did make up ground)

Game 12: Florida Panthers at Washington Capitals

YES!

A nice 5 - 0 win over the Florida Panthers!

Thankfully the Caps has did not act like this after one win:




The Caps are now 3 - 7 - 1

Of course when you are in last place in the conference, you just hope for 2 point games out of everyone else.

BTW, the someone told me the video above is actually of the Lakers fans celebrating their victory of the Bobcats on Friday.

Game 11: Washington Capitals @ Pittsburgh Penguins

Winning is habit.

Unfortunately, so is losing.

Some teams would say giving up 5 goals in a game is a bad night.  Try giving up 5 goals in 13 minutes.

Capitals fall to the Penguins 5 - 2.

Game 10: Toronto Maple Leafs @ Washington Capitals

The PK was good (they were 3 for 3) but they only won 40% of the faceoffs and the Maple Leafs had 22 blocks.

Backstrom was 31% on faceoffs and Beagle was 17%.  But on the other hand, David Steckel won 57% (oh wait, he plays for Toronto now, doesn't he?)

Here was my reaction to seeing the game:

Caps fall to the Leafs 3 - 2.

Chris Kunitz gets a hat trick and Sidney Crosby gets three assists.

This pretty much summed up the day:

Game 8: Philadelphia Flyers @ Washington Capitals

Inspite of the fact that Mike Ribero went 5 - 17 on the faceoffs, the Capitals still won 3 - 2.

Oh, this is Holtby's first NHL win since his son was born last tear.

Game 7 Washington Capitals @ Toronto Maple Leafs

When you are outshot almost to a 2 - 1 ratio, it does not look good.

And for those wondering, I seriously doubt we can get Bruce Boudreau back.
